TRUTH THURSDAYS: Today I Carry… June 5, 2008

An appreciation for little things, as I filled this hungry stomach with “lugaw” last night (12mn) from the sari-sari stores that served it at the corner/curve of Tikling street. I honestly didn’t like the taste at first, since it wasn’t the “lugaw” that I expected… I had doubts looking at it, with my tastebuds trying to recognize the difference. I wanted to stand up and leave it unfinished, but God reminded me of people who are super grateful they get to eat this 15 peso lugaw because that’s just what they have.. God was with me as I try to finish it with a list of things I am grateful for in every spoonful of lugaw that I take in….

The last peso, with a thankful heart that God is always faithful as I follow Him in this test….
The rants, and cries for help, as I pray for the disturbing needs of people that I love….
A brokenness, that highlights God’s grace at work in me…
These eyes, still in a bad condition, that is everyday becoming more precious to me… but I’m afraid It’s now too late as I see….
This overwhelming enthusiasm, for the growing ministry, for a new chapter in my seminary life, for a possible change in my orientation….
A vision for the future, that I had made a difference in people’s lives and is still making history as I bring more of them to God’ s embrace. And it’s Jesus beside me helping me make it possible….
I carry today this HOPE
and all these troubles will be washed away…
Let me share with you this Hymn
I’d Rather Have Jesus
I’d rather have Jesus than silver and gold;
I’d rather be His than have riches untold;
I’d rather have Jesus than houses or lands;
I’d rather be led by His nail pierced hand
Than to be a king of a vast domain
or be held in sin’s dread sway
I’d rather have Jesus than anything
This world affords today.
I’d rather have Jesus than men’s applause;
I’d rather be faithful to His dear cause;
I’d rather have Jesus than world-wide fame,
I’d rather be true to His holy name.
He’s fairer than lilies of rarest bloom;
He’s sweeter than honey from out of the comb;
He’s all that my hungering spirit needs,
I’d rather have Jesus and let Him lead.
